The health and well-being of men requires attention because of recorded differences in life expectancy, health outcomes, and other factors impacting how men grow, live, work, and age.
The Office of Minority Health (OMH) at the U.S Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has launched Men’s Health Listening Sessions across the country. The purpose of these discussions is to learn thoughts and perceptions around factors that impact your overall health. These events allow men an opportunity to provide feedback on key areas including: Health & Prevention, Substance Abuse/Mental Health, and Fitness & Nutrition.
This initiative advances the HHS OMH mission and its
National Partnership for Action to End Health Disparities (NPA) key priority by:
1. Understanding the story behind the data
2. Learning about community thoughts/perceptions, resources, and desires
3. Building public trust
4. Identifying specific goals and actions for future policy and program development
INVITED PARTICIPANTS:
• Local/regional subject matter experts in the topic areas
• Men’s health advocacy groups
• Community members
• Special guests
